Teepee Bride to Wedding Stationery Queen

We love nothing more than hearing from our previous Papa brides, so we were happy when the lovely Rea dropped us a line this week. A teepee bride in the summer of 2014, two years on and Rea has now set up her own fabulous wedding stationery business, Confetti Sweethearts, where she gets to share her love of weddings with future brides-to-be.

Tell us more about your PapaKåta wedding?
It was Saturday 26th July 2014, one of the hottest days that summer, couldn’t believe our luck! We got married at The Old Hall at Sausthorpe in Lincolnshire owned by a very kind neighbour that let us have her gardens for the day. We kept the teepees a secret from all the guests!! Apart from our mums of course! It wasn’t easy believe me but we managed it. We wanted the teepees to have the WOW factor effect on them like it did us. And it did – they were all blown away! My dad had tears in his eyes after seeing it all.

We wanted a relaxed feel to the day with lots of handmade elements as I am a crafter and my husband Chris is a design engineer. I made the invites, the flower bouquets and buttonholes and the flowers for the tables out of material and paper. I put my husband to work and he made everything from wooden signs and wooden table numbers to a bespoke jukebox!

When did you book with us, why did you choose PapaKåta?
The teepees were the first thing we booked which was after the Spring Open Day we attended in 2013, and we fell in love with them straight away. I had seen the teepess in a bridal magazine and knew instantly that this is what we would have. We thought the Papa team were very friendly, very professional and they helped in any way they could at the open days we attended or on the phone discussing the plans.

What made you want to set-up your own wedding business?
I’ve been toying with the idea for a while as I have been making cards and dabbled in other crafts for a few years now. I enjoyed making bits for our wedding so much it really spurred me on to create and take on the challenge. Before this I worked for myself as a mobile hairdresser and beautician in my local area, so it’s quite a change!

What do you specialise in? And describe your style?
All areas of wedding stationery, including invitations, table plans, and hen do goodies. My style would be modern and trendy, and as you can see, I can’t get enough of gold foil!

What are the best bits of running your own company, and any pitfalls?
Lots of good points! Being happy in my work because I choose what I want to do, and helping people prepare for their big day is very rewarding! However, when you work for yourself the work is always with you in some way as you are always thinking what to do next.

Do you have any advice for other people wanting to set up their own business after their wedding?
If you have an idea, research your market, get a plan together but most importantly just START!
