Embrace the uniqueness of our Teepees and Sperry Tents
Always on the lookout for new and innovative ways to embrace the uniqueness of our Teepees and Sperry Tents, we came across an article by Brides.com – www.brides.com/gallery/tents-for-outdoor-wedding. Imagine our delight when we discovered that our beloved Sperry Tents (an original import from the US) feature highly!
In the article, Feature Editor Allix Cott calls upon stateside industry experts for ways to enhance the interior of your tent. We were delighted to find some refreshing and original ideas that go beyond the expected, with valuable expert tips to make your outdoor wedding tent even more memorable.
To compliment this essential reading, here we highlight some of the best of their and our own recommendations to ensure your Papakåta Sperry Tents and Teepees stand out from the crowd.
From ideas for wowing guests with your reception entrance, to adding romance with cascading greenery to ‘bring the outside in’ for a beautifully elegant celebration that is truly unique to you.
Bring focus to your top table and draw the eye up
Rather than choosing a traditional top table (typically a long, one-sided table where the newlyweds sit flanked by key members of the wedding party), many of our PapaKåta couples have preferred to be seated centrally within the celebration. But how then do you make the top table (or head table) stand out from the rest?
Always ones to embrace a hanging installation, we turn to our green-fingered friends for ways to create an eye-catching linear design that sits horizontally above our Farmhouse Tables. Our Floral Beam or Wooden Swings are perfect for bringing focus to the Sperry Tents’ awe-inspiring height and the beautiful handcrafted detail of the canvas. Meanwhile, in the Teepees, the linear designs take advantage of the rustic wooden cross poles and allow you to create an ethereal garden within with low hanging florals and foliage.
In a similar way our Floral Hoops and Two-tier Hoops (both Finishing Touches favourites), help to create a round focal point. Situated above our Circular Oak Bar, they give an added surface area to celebrate your floral colour scheme. Whilst above round tables, they create a floral chandelier effect and free up precious space on the table below.
“A floral installation will draw your guests’ eyes upwards, allowing them to enjoy the full beauty of your tent,” says Carrie Wilcox, owner of Carrie Wilcox Floral Design. (Brides.com, Cott 2018)
Making an entrance
First impressions count, so why not set the tone of your tent by crafting an entrance worthy of a one-of-a-kind event? Floral Arches and Moon Gates are a great way of giving your guests a sneak peek of the delights that await them inside.
As well as being a valuable light source once the sun sets on your celebration, a Festoon Walkway helps to build anticipation and draw your guests into the celebration within.
Expand your reception space and give your guests more reason to mingle outside with the addition of a Festoon Terrace. Accessorise your outdoor seated area with plants from the garden in pots of varying sizes. These will create interest and when added to the tent’s entrance, blur the lines between interior and exterior spaces, whilst helping with the flow of guests.
Bring the outdoors in
Whether you’re a lover of the outdoors, or your venue holds special memories for you, your surroundings often prove to be a significant influence on your overall theme.
Adding elements of nature to your Teepees or Sperry Tents is also a sure fire way of creating a classic space that will stand the test of time. Consider live plants and trees, stunning displays of lush greenery and lofty vines draped from the tops of your Teepees or the peaks of your Sperry Tents.
