Party, Party, Party, Oriental style in PapaKåta Teepees!
Already six months into the year and here at PapaKåta the Wedding and Party season is in full swing… We’ve already been involved with some fabulous teepee weddings, banging parties and energetic festivals full of fun, frivolity and late night revelry!
We’ve loved meeting all of you gorgeous brides, grooms and birthday boys and girls on our travels and visiting some glorious locations overlooking crystal clear lakes, ancient woodlands and in the foot of majestic Scottish Castles.
Over the next few months we’ll be sharing some sneak peeks from some of these stunning events, helping you to visualize your own teepee celebration and sharing with you the fabulous furnishings, venues and suppliers that help to make the events…
Starting with Daisy and Jacob’s birthday celebrations at home in East Yorkshire… Our brief was to provide not only the teepees, but also a party planning service, by recommending and booking trusted suppliers and managing the different components in the lead up to and during the party night celebrations.
In order to create a cosy, intimate and oriental inspired space with a separate dining space and the atmosphere of a nightclub, we turned to Daisy and Jake’s favorite restaurant Hakkasan for inspiration.
Once the PapaKåta crew had worked their magic and erected six of our giant teepees, installed the furnishings and created a spectacular walkway fit for the birthday boy and girl, it was time for the Papa Events team to add the sparkle! We were there on the day before the event (sometimes the busiest day) to ensure the client could concentrate on everything other than the teepee and the party, allowing them time and space to prepare!
A small experienced team of Papakåta crew and events planners were then present on the day of the event, liaising with all the suppliers to provide the different elements, ensure timings went smoothly and the client didn’t have to worry about a thing. We then concentrated on timings, lighting (so important), the flow of guests, and made last minute changes to the schedule to ensure the smooth running of the evening.
In order to extend the Oriental theme outside of the teepees, Chinese paper lanterns in red and orange hues adorned the festoon lit walkway as the guests arrived. The nightclub atmosphere was then created using a round LED bar and light cubes dotted about, in a low level white. After dinner the bar and light cubes were turned to red, changing the feel of the space again.
Lighting is key to help give the ambient atmosphere, so an abundance of lanterns were hung at low levels around the teepees and from the middle of each tent. Candles were then placed everywhere to provide a warm glow as the lighting was turned down.
Guests were greeted by Stig Valet Parking (provided by PapaKåta) and treated to a delicious Oriental style menu by Dine, who innovatively served the fare in individual authentic paper bags! There was entertainment a plenty with a surprise ‘flash mob’ performed by The Dance Mob during the Champagne reception, fireworks by The Fire Workers and a lively dance floor was created by percussion artist This is Fish and DJ Matt Maurice.
Needless to say guests partied until dawn and once the headaches had cleared were reminiscing on memories that will last a lifetime, here are their kind comments following the event…
‘We just want to say a massive thank you for all your help making our night so special, we felt so looked after from the very first phone call with Sally to the end of the party. It was such a pleasure to have you involved in the organising and it made the whole experience so easy. Rhian and the guys did an amazing job on the night and looked after us so well, everything ran like clockwork. All the guests were blown away by the teepees so once again thank you so much!’ The Dixon Family
We wanted to share these key moments captured by Andrew Crozier and PapaKåta’s in house photographer…
