It hasn’t escaped the attention of our beady eyed team here at PapaKåta that cocktails are firmly back on the menu and events are set to become ever more chic, glamorous and taste better than ever this year! Whilst we are more than happy to help advance the research in this new trend on behalf of our lovely Brides, Grooms and event planners(!), we thought we’d ask the experts at Speakeasy Libations to let you know what will be tickling your taste buds this party season….
Cocktail bars are one of the big additions to the 2015 wedding scene. Weddings have become more personalised and both the bride and groom are taking a closer interest in every aspect of their wedding. It started with decorations and themes, moved on to food (exit cheese and pineapple on sticks, enter hog roasts, high end caterers and street food vans!) and now people are ready to do away with the supermarket vodka and cheap beers. The spirits market as a whole is experiencing an explosion of quality new products spurred on by the public’s newfound interest.

The classic age of cocktails has returned; short cocktails in Gatsby-esque coupes or wonderful cut glass tumblers are popping up on every menu as people get past ordering their 100th Long Island or Woo Woo and decide to explore the possibilities available. Certain flavours reign supreme… gin, elderflower, cucumber and of course anything closely resembling a mojito.

Papakåta have invited us to showcase our cocktails alongside their beautiful Teepees and Sperry tents at their open day on 21st & 22nd March, and we’ll be supplying every guest with a cocktail or mocktail. Linking with the on-trend botanical florals and styling, the cocktail that will be available is another Speakeasy original called Gin Garden, made by shaking gin with homemade berry tea syrup, apple juice, rose water and lemon and a none alcoholic mocktail with strawberry and basil available for those that don’t want to drink! We will also have smaller samples available of other cocktails to try as well, so stop for a chat and a drink.
Speakeasy Libations specialise in bringing all these tasty high end cocktails out of the big city bars and into your special day. Custom is the keyword here; we don’t have set cocktails or suggested menus that we offer and stick to. We are always tinkering and coming up with our own original cocktails as well as exploring the classics, so if you come to us with a set theme, list of cocktails or just some rough ideas we will work with you to create a bespoke menu for your day. We also do the usual things like beers, spirits & mixer and champagne, but we just especially love making and creating cocktails! We supply the complete package, with our own glassware, stock, ice and of course the bar itself (although if you want to supply/hire your own equipment and have us use it, that’s fine as well!) so you can stop stressing about the bar side of things and just look forward to some tasty drinks on the day.
