Top 5 food & drink trends for 2014
In preparation for our Spring Open Weekend, we’ve been talking to wedding & party caterers to find out what’s hot for this year’s food and drink trends.
We’ve handpicked our top 5, and hope you find them as inspiring and stomach rumbling as we do:
1. US inspiration
The idea of a ‘brunch’ style wedding breakfast is on its way over from the US. Feast Yorkshire recommend tasty waffles and crepes, or why not create a ‘Bloody Mary’ cocktail bar for your guests to make their own drink?
2. Street food
Partying can be hard work, so keep your guests fueled with some delicious street food in the evening. From Jamie Oliver’s super-cool army van to the Artisan Pizza Company who can rock up in their cute Citroen HY and cook homemade pizza, the growing trend for street food is here to stay!
3. A touch of elegance
If you’re fed up with vintage teapot cocktails then embrace the age of elegance and get creative with Great Gatsby inspired cocktails. Mike Kernall Catering love the Roaring 20’s Gin Fizz with Champagne, Gin and a touch of lemon juice – served in a Champagne Coupe (or saucer if you’re from Yorkshire)!
4. Naughty but nice
With so many people doing ‘sweet tables’, we think it’s time to take things back to basics. So why not keep it natural with a fabulous macaron tower. Medici Macarons use 100% natural products and they’ll be bringing fruity rhubarb and custard Macarons to this years Spring Open Weekend.
5. Share the love
Share happy memories with your guests by creating a personalised menu or drinks list. Feast Yorkshire suggest choosing a dish from your favourite location or toasting your wedding with wine from a vineyard you have visited.
